About Tom Babbey
Tom Babbey is an award-winning illustrator, concept artist, and art director in the fantasy gaming industry, as well as a classically-trained art instructor and traditional wildlife fine artist.
Tom grew up in the midwest, and has been drawing for as long as he can remember. When he wasn’t drawing, he spent his childhood and teenage years hanging out in comic shops and gaming in his friends’ basements.
Tom left the midwest in pursuit of his artistic studies, moving to San Diego to study at the Watts Atelier of the Arts. Tom eventually went on to teach at the Atelier, and worked to keep alive a lineage of learning focused on the fundamentals of traditional, representational art.
Tom’s artwork can be seen in a wide range of gaming products, from Magic; The Gathering cards to Dungeons and Dragons rulebooks and supplements, as well as on the tabletop, where he’s designed hundreds of official Dungeons & Dragons miniatures. When he’s not painting, Tom can be found on the hiking trail, enjoying the outdoors. Tom currently resides in San Diego with his family and his ridiculously friendly and energetic dogs, Tasha and Otto.
