About tb
A bit about me? I’m not a terribly exciting person, but I’ll share anyways. I’m a freelance illustrator and wildlife artist, with a healthy love for our natural world as well as all things fantastical and science-fictional. I currently reside in San Diego, with my wonderful wife and a slew of misfit adopted pets, where I lead animal drawing sketch groups and attend the Watts Atelier of the Arts.

Comment by kristi — May 29, 2009 @ 12:13 pmHi, Tom. Voice from the past. Dick Whitley, step-son to your Aunt Lois. You were good enough to give me (waaay back when) a rendering of a “California Superman”. Unfortunately, I’ve moved around enough in my Marine Corps & educational days that it has been lost to the ages. I really love your site. I am also a semi-ravenous reader of graphic novels… any out there with your credits? Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Dick
Comment by Dick Whitley — November 17, 2009 @ 1:22 pmAwesome Tom…simply awesome. I believe in you…keep it going! Look forward to seeing what comes out of your workshop with the famous Gurney this summer. I am impressed with your “talks” and art classes you’re doing at the zoo…Love your dinosaur sketches…..Love ya!
Comment by Barbara Babbey — April 18, 2010 @ 6:52 pmLove your style, so full of action, life, color …Can I buy the horse painting or trade something creative for it? I am also full of creativity. And I love to work with the black and white chalks on a colored ground. What paper do you use, please? In two days I am drawing Willie Nelson’s guitar and I’m using top quality pastel paper, black ‘n’ white Conte pencils and hope.
Comment by janet young — September 6, 2011 @ 9:52 pmThanks for the kind words, Janet. Unfortunately, the horse painting is unavailable, but if you’re interested in commissioning one, shoot me an email (tom_babbey@yahoo.com). As for the paper I use, It’s Cachet’s “earthbound” sketchbook series, with the highlights put in using a General’s white charcoal pencil. Good luck on the guitar, and all the best!
Comment by tb — September 7, 2011 @ 4:58 amJust came across some of your paleo-art and it immediately drew me in, and I quickly found myself looking through the rest of your art. Beautiful stuff, I love your lines, it has really inspired me to try out some new ideas.
Comment by Todd — April 11, 2012 @ 7:43 pmDid you do two sketches “Old Man’s Memories” and “Lady Godiva”? I have copies of them and am researching them.

Exploring the site was like being part of the iconic Coachella music festival where fashion and music blend beautifully. The vibrant design and trendy visuals evoke a sense of creativity that ignites the spirit. I appreciate this opportunity to share my thoughts on a site that celebrates artistic expression and freedom
